The Black and Asian soldiers of the First World War Webquest
In November 2002 the Memorial Gates were opened in London's Hyde Park. They were built to "remember the peoples of the Indian sub-continent, Africa and the Caribbean who fought in both World Wars. No longer will they be forgotten by history"
There are many fascinating stories of the soldiers from the different parts of the British Empire who fought for 'King and Country' and also, sadly, tales of the discrimination and hardship that they faced whilst they were doing so. This webquest will allow you to discover the hidden history of the soldiers of the Empire.
